COSI WELCOMES ONE MILLIONTH CAMPER
On Saturday, April 18, 2009, COSI Columbus celebrated 37 years of the COSI Camp-In program by welcoming the one millionth camper through its doors. At a private dinner program that evening, the founders of Camp-In - Sue Shilling, then Field Executive of Seal of Ohio Girl Scout Council, and Bill Schmitt, then Education Director of COSI - were recognized for dreaming up this great combination of camping and science which has spread to more than one hundred museums and science centers around the world.
David E. Chesebrough, President & CEO of COSI, and Tammy Wharton, CEO of Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland joined current and past Camp-In staff, volunteers, and campers in thanking Sue and Bill for their inspired idea of providing girls with the opportunity to have hands-on fun with science and technology in an overnight setting.
In the great COSI Camp-In tradition, a fun time was had by all!
