HELP US CHOOSE THE RECOGNITION PROGRAM FOR THE 2011 COOKIE SALE!

The Cookie Sale Program theme this year is “Inspired by U,” and it is all about Girl Scouts working together to inspire change. Girls everywhere are striving to create a better community, a better life, and a better planet, and the cookie sale program gives them the tools and skills they need to make it all happen.  They connect with people in their communities, and they use the power of Girl Scout Cookies to take action in their own neighborhoods and far beyond.

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program:

  • Builds self-esteem.
  • Teaches goal-setting and fosters teamwork.
  • Develops early business skills.
  • Provides an opportunity to earn funds for troop activities, council program events, and camp opportunities.
  • Teaches responsibility.
  • Teaches money management.
  • Improves interpersonal communication skills.
  • Provides girls with new skills that will help them in all aspects of their lives.

Where Does the Money Go?

Girl Scout cookies sold by Girl Scouts in Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Council are still only $3.00 per box, the least expensive in our state. It is important to note that the council does not donate to any other organization.  The money earned from the cookie sale stays within the council, and the majority of it  goes back to the girls either directly with financial aid, troop profit and recognitions, or indirectly through leader training, camp maintenance and girl programming.

Here is a breakdown of how money earned is distributed:

 3%       Girl recognitions

19%      Troop profit

28%      Cost of the product

50%      Girl programming, camp maintenance, financial aid, volunteer training
